How in heaven (Sweden, 2004)
This Swedish film has to be - certainly not without justification - to grapple with some kitsch allegations. It is about self-determination, solidarity, love, justice. It is a star conductor, while the of a large concert breaks down, because he suffers a heart attack and step down after this incident his work. It draws him back to his home village in northern Sweden, where he "finally hear once again" and wants to be alone with himself. But it in no time integrating the villagers and it is faster, the new cantor, as he can 'Kurt Masur' say. That caused him but did not mind because for one he does this to fulfill his desire to make music that is able to open the hearts of the people (so much for the kitsch ...) and the other's singing so sweet in the Lena church choir, which he now heads. At first all goes well, with his professional methods, his openness and enthusiasm The choir is always better, and he composed and conducted himself in the heart (again!), the choir singers and the rest of the village. But this relaxed, productive rural life is clouded ... is he witnesses as his choir member Gabriella brutally beaten by her husband (a scene that eat away at people with a great sense of justice much is), the pastor of the place he envies his success and the arch-conservative old maid of the choir is looking for reasons as they can get rid of this man and his methods (Sodom and Gomorrah!) ...
The ending is surprisingly not predictable and it offers some wonderful choral scenes, during which no Eye is expected to remain dry. In addition, some social issues are treated sensitively and realistically, the characters are all made credible. Yet shoots as in heaven here and there over the top bad - with some sentences that hurt sentiment just before, with small edge stories that are just too much, and more. Children of Monsieur Matthieu is the better film choir. But bad this one is still far.
